Being a Mom { 7 }

It has been a while! SO here are a ton of pictures. : )

Claire is growing up so fast! Everyday she gets better at sitting up and she keeps thinking that she can stand but she really can’t. She talks a ton and when she does she shouts, she has been doing this thing where she grabs my shoulder with both hands, puts her mouth on it and screams. Why she does this, I have no idea! lol

Everyday it becomes easier and easier as she grows in personality and I am able to read her reactions and feelings to things. She is so cute with Josh too, the other day he came home and she was laying on my lap, he didn’t say a word but when she saw him she had the biggest smile! Josh used to be worried that she didn’t like him, but now that she is older and recognizing other people there is no doubt that she loves her daddy! : )

Crocheting Crazy

The last few days I have been doing a ton of crocheting. Every time Claire goes down for a nap or when she lets me set her down to play I pick up my hook and yarn and go at it. Yesterday I finished a hat for Claire’s stocking and a chunky, child size pom pom hat for my Etsy. I am now working on another chunky pom pom hat for a baby. I hope that next week I will be able to post a few more things to my shop.

My little girl chillin’ while I crochet. : )

Autumn Snow

Hello! I haven’t been able to do much blogging lately, but life has been a little busy and Josh and I have been dealing with a cold. Plus I have hardly touched my camera the past few weeks, and when I do it to take pictures of Claire. However it snowed the other day, so during Claire’s nap I grabbed my camera and ventured outside. We didn’t get very much but it was a nice change to the rain we have been getting.

Bella, my in-laws dog, has been staying with us for a few days and she was super happy out in the snow.

Crocheted Boot Cuffs { Updated }

The last post I did for the crocheted boot cuffs had a lot of questions and problems with the pattern. So! I have an updated version. : )

Crochet Boot Cuff Supplies

Yarn: Any Medium Worsted Weight Yarn, I have used both Acrylic and Wool. Just choose a yarn that you really like. Don’t limit yourself!
Crochet Hook: Size J/6mm
Yarn Needle
Stitches Used
Chain (CH)
Half Double Crochet (HDC)

How to Crochet Boot Cuffs

First row: Loosely Chain 25 stitches
Second row: Skip two stitches (this makes your first Half Double Crochet) Then HDC in each stitch
Third row: CH 2 stitches, (this makes your first HDC). HDC into the back part of the loops across the whole row. (Crocheting into the back part of the stitches will give you the ribs)
Rows 4 – 24: Continue the rest of the boot cuff by repeating the instructions for the third row.
Finish: Tie off the end and then use your yarn needle to sew the ends together. Weave in the ends of Yarn.
Notes: You can make the boot cuffs wider of narrower. I did 24 rows which fits around the widest part of my calf that is 13.5”. It is okay if it is tight because they will stretch out as you wear them.
I hope this works better for everyone. : )

Being a Mom { 6 }

Little Claire is growing so fast! She will be 17 weeks tomorrow! She continues to sleep through the night, naps are rough but she is slowly getting back in the habit of normal nap times. She has been enjoying time on her tummy and thinks it is a great game to roll over every time I put her on her stomach. The other day she did roll from her back to her tummy though! She had me shocked, I don’t think she planned on rolling over, it just kinda happened.
Baby laughs, they are by far the cutest sound in the world! Claire will sometimes let one out when we kiss her cheek over and over, when we play peek-a-boo, or when Josh blows into her neck. She continues to generally be a happy girl, however she has had a bit of an attitude. The other day I set her in her crib so I could grab her outfit in the other room, well she didn’t like it so she squealed at me and smacked her feet rather hard on the mattress, then continued to glare and let out loud shouts. I have a feeling that this little girl is going to be very opinionated and vocal (which would be from her dad). lol
Drool, we have had a lot of drool! and everything goes in the mouth, from toys, clothes, blankets, her hands, our hands, pretty much anything she can get a hold of. It has mostly been her hands though because she is still learning how to pick stuff up and move them around. She has smacked herself in the face more than once or she gets too excited and tosses the toy way above her head.
And now for picture time! There are a lot because she was so happy and I had a hard time narrowing it down.
Annnnd done….

Painted Onesies

I had a few sets of plain onesies and I decided that it would be fun to paint a few of them. I used watered down acrylic paints. So far I have washed them all a few times, inside out, and the paint has stayed on and is soft.

Here are a few of them on Claire. : )

I used a stencil for the deer and was inspired for the rest by Going Home to Roost. Check out the link! Hers were for boys but I figured I could use them for Claire by just making them in girly colors. : )
