Reveal Shoot…

I have always wanted to do a reveal shoot, to be a part of sharing a couples good news. Well I got a chance to do a reveal shoot. However it was a little different than I thought my first reveal would go. It was my husband and I that were in front of the lens! We are going to have a baby! : D

We found out a few months ago and we were super excited. I didn’t really find out the way I had hoped but it was an adventure.

I had thought I was maybe pregnant so I took two home test and they both came up negative. I was a little upset but I figured God didn’t think we were ready. Well a week later I was getting ready for work, I had just taken a hot shower and was making my way to the bedroom when I felt light headed. Next thing I know I was on the bathroom floor with Josh Standing over me yelling my name. I was clueless as to what happened! And of course he was freaking out! lol He told me I passed out and was going to call 911. I though this was over kill for just fainting so he called my mom instead.

So after that we made our way to the doctor. They asked if I was pregnant and I told them about me two negative tests and I just figured my monthly period was just late. However they did a test anyways and said that I was pregnant! I was so happy! Josh on the other hand was a brick wall all day, I could get no emotion out of him! That was making me very nervous! The next day though he came running up to me and touched my tummy and declared how excited he was to be a dad. Apparently the day before he was in shock. lol

SO anyways! Our little one is due on July 12th and we are very excited to welcome it to our lives. : )

We finally got a little snow! Granted it was only an inch and only stayed for a day. It was still really nice though to get a little snow.

I did a little window shopping in town being as none of the shops were open yet.

Have a great day! : )

Busy, Busy…

It feels like ages since I have touched my blog! I haven’t even touched my camera in over a week! And that is a very long time for me. lol  I have been busy with work, getting rid of a head cold (gone now! YAY!), setting up my Christmas decorations, Christmas shopping and the list goes on. On top of that I got a new desktop to replace my very SLOW laptop, which is great!

However….. It has Windows 8…….

Who knew learning a new computer would be so annoying! Nothing seems to be where it used to be, but I am getting used to it, slowly but surely.

Anyways! I am going to be grabbing my camera this weekend and getting back to what I love to do! And of course I will start sharing on my blog again. : )

Here are a few pretty pictures of pretty snowy scenes. I keep dreaming of some snow here in the North West! Maybe next week!

What I am Thankful For…

This list could really go on forever! But I would like to share just a few of the things I am most thankful for (in no particular order).

My AMAZING Husband. My (semi) reliable Truck. My Family. My In-laws. Our tiny apartment. FOOD. God’s Sacrifice and Love. My Job. Our Church Family.

Be joyful always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

[Guest Post] Emily

Hi! I'm Emily and I blog over at This Lovely Life.
A big thanks to Sarah for inviting me to guest post over on her blog. Her blog is on top of my list of favorite blogs to read! She is such a dear friend as well.
I am a learning photographer, chasing the dream of having my own business doing what I love....PHOTOGRAPHY. Sarah asked me to share some photography tips! I'll be quite honest. These will be rather random, but we will do our best!
 1-Photography should be fun!
There is a lot of technical stuff one has to learn to take good photos. You have to learn the basics in order to do a good job. BUT, you should have fun while doing it! The shot doesn't always have to be perfect. It can be creative, different, and whatever else you want it to be. You are holding the camera,so YOU are the artist! With the exception of paid sessions, where a client might expect a particular style, you should try to be as creative and unique as you want!
 2-Take pictures of everything!
Portraits are great! You should definitely take portraits. Capture moments that shouldn't be forgotten. But sometimes, the best shots are of just normal everyday things. Like teacups and film rolls for instance;)
 3-Catch the moment.
The best shots are the ones you catch when people don't know they're being photographed. A groom stealing a kiss,a child reading a book,or a man playing an instrument. All these are good examples of great photos. Posed shots are great as well, but people tend to look more natural and relaxed when they aren't looking at the camera.
 4-Don't get discouraged.
Sometimes I go out and take sixty photos, put them on my computer, and find that I only like three of them. Never fear! This is where digital editing comes in handy! Learn to use editing tools to help you manipulate your photo into the shot you want. Cheating? Well maybe just a little. It definitely helps out in a pinch!
 5-Try different angles.
Taking shots at different angles really adds something to your work. Lay your camera on the ground to get a great shot of small animals. Use both vertical and horizontal. Use the macro setting and get up close to your subject.

6-Look for different lighting situations.
I use to always take pictures outside. I didn't like using indoor light. Experience is the best teacher. Working with all the different light situations, helps you know what to do in a pinch. It also helps you learn what to avoid.(Spotty shade)
Take your camera to all your events. Ball games, weddings, family reunions, trips to the fair, etc. Always have it with you on pretty days. Use your photographer's eye. Look for things that would make a good picture. The more you look the more you will find, and the better you will get! Practice makes perfect!:)

A Walk in a Shop…

Nothing too exciting for this post, just some cool stuff I saw in some antique stores in town. : )
